Homemade De-Icer Spray

Winter mornings are extremely cold. Most of the mornings our windows are frozen to the point where I just want to give up on the day and head back to bed.

Unfortunately, that isn’t how things work.

Man it’s the worst when I am in a rush and cannot seem to see more than ice on my windows so that is when this Homemade De-Icer Spray comes to the rescue!

Not everyone has a remote start in their cars which means you are getting into a cold car and often times your windows are frozen. Even if you do, sometimes it takes more time than you have.

Forget waiting for the car to warm because you just need a few simple ingredients and you won’t have to deal with those frozen windows anymore!

What You’ll Need to Make Homemade De-Icer Spray:

How to Make Homemade De-Icer Spray.

First start by filling the spray bottle with vinegar (or the rubbing alcohol). I made mine about half full.

Next, add 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid to the spray bottle and shake the bottle to ensure the solution is mixed. I used dawn but any dish soap should work just fine.

Now, all you need to do is spray the solution on your car windows and within a few minutes the frost on your car will be gone! Such an easy solution, right?

You can also pre-treat your car windows using the same solution if you know it is going to be cold outside or even snow. These ingredients raise the melting point of water – preventing water from freezing. Plus they are totally inexpensive and likely items you already keep stocked at home!

Thanks! I am going to make this for my husband. He will need it to use on his back/side windows. We always use a big "army" blanket to cover his front windshield at night and he just removes it in the morning and doesn't need to scrape the front windshield at all.
