This 2-Ingredient Mountain Dew Cake is the easiest and tastiest cake recipe you’ll ever make. The best part is, there is no milk, no eggs and no butter required! It is a soda cake that will be a huge hit at any gathering!
With the high cost of everything right now (especially eggs) desserts that require many ingredients seem like they are completely out of our budgets.
Well, I am about a to change the game when it comes to desserts!
This Mountain Dew Soda Cake is made using just 2 main ingredients and it couldn’t be any easier to make.
I did end up topping the cake with some frosting and coconut shreds for added flavor but those ingredients are totally optional.
So, if you love Mtn Dew as much as we do, you are going to love this cake!

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance can I make this?
You can make this 2-3 days in advance and keep it covered in the fridge.
Can I use regular food coloring?
You can use regular food coloring but I prefer gel food coloring. It mixes easier and gives a brighter and more consistent coloring.
Can I use any flavor of Mtn Dew?
Yes! You can certainly use any flavor of Mtn Dew including Diet Mtn Dew. Just keep in mind, the flavored Mtn Dews like Code Red or Baja Blast may alter the flavor and color of the cake.
What toppings can I use for this cake?
If you don’t want to use frosting or the coconut flakes, you can simply serve it plain or use whipped cream or a dollop of cool-whip on top.
Things to Note:
- If you have a 2-liter of Mtn Dew soda instead of a 12oz. can, you can measure out 1 1/2 cups of soda.

I’m allergic to coconuts is there another type of cake I could use? Thank you.
Cyndi, you can certainly use vanilla instead. And just use the vanilla cake with the Mountain Dew and skip the coconut shavings on top (you could swap for white chocolate shavings instead).
Really good. Easy to make. I made mine with Diet Mtn Dew
Using a cakemix is not a proper recipe! A cakemix contains more than one incredient making this recipe not a 2-ingredient recipe. I was really disappointed.
Marthe, I’m sorry you were disappointed. During this difficult time, people are looking for inexpensive ways to make their favorite foods such as cake. This truly is a 2-ingredient cake as the cake mix does not require any other ingredients besides the can of Mtn Dew. I also clarified that the other ingredients such as the frosting and toppings are optional. Hope that helps!
@Brittanie, people always have to complain about everything.
