What Can I Use if I Can’t Find Whipped Cream Vodka?
You can use any flavor of vodka. Vanilla or cupcake flavored vodka would be a good alternative to whipped cream vodka. Coconut rum would be a great option as well.
How Far in Advance Can I Make These?
You can make these a few days in advance. Just make sure to keep moisture away from them and wait to put whipped cream on top until right before serving.
What Additional Toppings Can I Use?
Aside from the whipped cream, you can add patriotic sprinkles and maraschino cherries on top.
Can I Use Flavored Jello Instead?
While the colors may not be as vibrant, you can certainly use flavored jello packets instead of the unflavored gelatin. For the red layer, you can use strawberry jello. For the blue layer, you can use berry blue jello. The white layer is best made with white gelatin using the directions in the recipe card.
How to Make 4th of July Jello Shots
Pour the water into a large measuring cup with a spout. Sprinkle the envelopes of unflavored gelatin over the water, and wait about 15 minutes until the gelatin blooms or until completely dissolved.
Add the vodka and vanilla Syrup and stir well.
Divide the gelatin mixture evenly into 3 bowls, and add the red food coloring gel into one of the bowls to make red jello, the blue food coloring gel into another bowl to make blue jello, and the sweetened condensed milk into the last bowl. (The condensed milk will make the white layer).
Stir well to blend completely.
Add the red layer into the bottom of the shot glasses, filling them about 1/3 of the way. Place in the refrigerator to cool for one hour.
Remove the shot glasses from the refrigerator, and add the white layer as the next layer, filling the shot glasses about 2/3 of the way, and place the shot glasses back in the refrigerator for another 30 minutes.
Remove from the refrigerator, and add the top blue layer using the blue gelatin, filling the glasses the rest of the way. Place the jello shot cups back in the refrigerator for another hour to set the Gelatin.
Right before serving, remove the plastic shot cups from the refrigerator, and top with the Reddi-Whip whipped Cream.
Serve and Enjoy!
