6 Week Christmas Savings Challenge – How to Save $500 By Christmas

The holidays are right around the corner and if you haven’t started saving, you are out of luck. Or are you?

This 6 Week Christmas Savings Challenge is here to help guide you to save $500 by Christmas. It was designed with procrastinators and those on a tight budget this year in mind. Really anyone that wants to have money for Christmas without the financial stress, worry, and without going into debt will benefit from this Christmas money challenge.

What is the 6 Week Christmas Savings Challenge?

The 6 week Christmas savings challenge is designed to help you save $500 in 6 weeks. It helps hold you accountable to save intentionally from November 1st to around the second week of December so you have enough time to save and obtain Christmas gifts for everyone on your holiday shopping list.

What do I do if I don’t have enough money to complete the challenge?

As I always say, something is better than nothing. If you save anything for Christmas especially this late in the year, that is awesome. However, if you are really wanting to do the challenge, I recommend finding a way to have a little wiggle room in your budget, sell some unwanted items, take on a part-time job, etc.

Where do I save my money?

There is not a single right answer other than, you put your savings wherever you won’t be tempted to touch it. Whether that means an online savings account separate from all your other accounts, in a shoebox or even using the envelope method. It truly doesn’t matter where you save it as long as you don’t touch it.

How to Do The 6 Week Christmas Savings

Step One: Give yourself 6 weeks to complete this. I originally designed this savings challenge to begin on November 1st and end somewhere near the 2nd week of December (December 5-6). You can start any day you’d like just as long as you have at least 6 weeks. If you have less, you may just need to double up on saving one of those weeks.

Step Two: You will be saving the following increments each week (1 amount per week).

  • $65
  • $75
  • $80
  • $80
  • $85
  • $115

You can start with the lowest amount and go in order or save any of those amounts on any week just as long as you save each increment over the 6-week challenge.

That’s it! By the end of 6 weeks, you will have saved $500 to put towards Christmas!

I also made a 6 Week Christmas Savings Challenge Printable to help you along the way. You can color in the Christmas presents each time you save! You can get that printable here.

After expenses I live on $140.00 a month. Any suggestions for me, would be greatly appreciated.

@Brenda Hemminger consider gifts you can make. A lot of people love homemade cookies and you can buy tins or containers for them at the dollar store.
