What You Need to Make Christmas Puppy Chow
- Chex Rice Cereal– Rice Chex or Corn Chex work fine
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Peanut Butter – You will want to use creamy for the best texture and consistency
- Unsalted Butter
- Vanilla Extract– I prefer pure vanilla extract
- Powdered Sugar
- Red & Green Christmas M&Ms
Helpful Tips
- Allow the mixture to “dry” on a large cookie sheet before placing into treat bags to prevent clumping.
- You can use a peanut butter alternative such as almond butter, sun butter or Wow Butter.
- Store leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container.
- You can use white chocolate if you prefer.
Christmas Muddy Buddies
Ingredients
- 9 cups chex cereal we used corn chex
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
- Red & Green M&Ms
Instructions
- To a microwave safe bowl, add chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave for 30 seconds, and stir well.
- Microwave for 30 seconds more, and stir again. If not melted, microwave on 15 second increments and stir until smooth. Remove from the microwave and stir in vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Pour the chocolate mixture over the chex cereal, and toss to coat.
- Divide the powdered sugar between two gallon storage bags.
- Scoop the chocolate covered chex into the gallon bags, and shake well to coat the cereal in the sugar.
- Spread the coated cereal onto a parchment lined baking sheet, and allow to set for about 30 minutes.
- Before serving, add in M&M’s and toss.
