When it comes to eating healthier, I’ve found that often times, it is the texture that makes it or breaks it.

Let me explain, I can’t see myself swapping out tasty potato chips for regular kale – NOPE.

In fact, I am not even a fan of kale.

But Kale chips – crispy kale chips, well yes, that is a perfect substitution for potato chips and they are delicious. After all, they are crunchy, salty and have a far better texture than regular kale.

Yes! You can use the same heat and make these in the air fryer. Adjust the cooking time to 5 minutes and if you want these extra crispy, flip the kale chips over and air fry for another 3-5 minutes. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn.

How do I store kale chips?
Store kale chips in an airtight container or ziploc baggie. They will stay good for roughly 2-4 days as long as they are stored properly.

Can I use a different oil besides avocado oil?
Yes. You can use any oil you’d like. However, avocado oil is a great low fat oil that also cooks well in high heat.

How to Make Crispy Kale Chips

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F.

Remove and discard large stems from the kale and tear the kale leaves into large bite-size pieces.

Rinse kale and dry thoroughly. A salad spinner works well to help remove most of the water from the kale leaves.

Add the kale to a large bowl. Pour avocado oil over the kale. Toss and massage the oil into the leaves.

Transfer kale to two baking sheets. Be sure to keep the leaves in a single layer and not overcrowd the pans.

Sprinkle the kale with freshly minced garlic and sea salt.

Place in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, rotating the pans halfway through.

Allow the kale to cool for 3-5 minutes.

Sprinkle on shredded parmesan cheese.

Serve and enjoy!

  • 2 bunches of fresh kale
  • 3 Tablespoons avocado oil
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • Shredded parmesan cheese
