Easy Crockpot Turkey Breast Recipe

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays simply because you get to make an amazing table full of food and spend time with the ones you love.

With that being said, every year, we try to figure out ways to make preparing Thanksgiving dinner for our family, easier. After all, cooking for a large crowd is a lot of work.

That is why we got ahead of the game this year and came up with a way to prepare a Thanksgiving Turkey in the Crockpot.

This crockpot turkey recipe will help you make a tender turkey breast with great flavor in record time. It makes for an easy clean up and is a great recipe to try for any holiday season. Plus, it saves oven space at Thanksgiving. Win-win!

What You Need to Make A Crockpot Turkey Breast

  • Boneless Turkey Breast – 3 to 4 pounds
  • Oranges
  • Cranberries
  • Coarse Ground Garlic Salt
  • Seasoned Salt
  • Seasoned Pepper
  • Coarse Ground Garlic Powder
  • Butter
  • Brown Sugar
  • Fresh Rosemary
  • Meat Thermometer

How many servings does this recipe make?

This slow cooker turkey breast recipe will make 5-6 servings. If you have a large crockpot, you can certainly increase the size of the turkey breast (adjust cooking times accordingly). You can also make several of these in different Crockpots at one time for more servings.

What temperature should turkey breasts be cooked to?

According to Butterball, turkey breasts should reach an internal temperature of 170°F using a meat thermometer at the thick, center part of the meat.

How long does it take to slow cook a 3 pound turkey breast?

For this recipe we are using a 3-4 pound turkey breast. It takes approximately 3-4 hours on high or up to 7 hours on low to fully cook a turkey breast in a crockpot (cooking time may vary on crockpots and whether you use boneless or bone-in turkey breast). The best way to ensure the turkey is done, is to use a meat thermometer and ensure it is measuring 170 degrees.

How do I get crispy skin?

If you want crispy skin, you can stick the turkey breast in an oven-safe dish and place it on a “low broil” for a few minutes. Keep an eye on it and remove as soon as the turkey skin begins to crisp. You want to avoid broiling too long or your turkey will turn out dry.

How do I store leftover turkey?

Leftover turkey can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days after making.

What do I serve with turkey breast meat?

You can serve turkey breast meat with any traditional Thanksgiving sides such as homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, turkey gravy, rolls, green bean casserole or any of your favorite side dishes.

How to Make A Crockpot Turkey Breast

Turn your Crock Pot to the Highest Setting, and with the lid on, let it warm up for at least 30 minutes.

Remove the outer wrapping from the Turkey Breast, and rinse the Turkey Breast under cool water.  Pat dry with Paper towels. (I place the washed Turkey Breast in a large bowl, and pat dry before placing in Crock Pot).  Note: Since Turkey is Poultry, you’ll need to make sure you wash your hands well, after handling, and disinfect your kitchen sink, counters, the bowl etc., anything the raw Turkey touched.

As per frozen Butterball Breast's instructions, for baking, we are not to thaw. Would that be the same when using your recipe in the slow cooker? Thank you.

Hi Marj, if the instructions on your frozen Butterball breast say to not thaw, then follow those directions and then you can proceed with this recipe. Just ensure the internal temperature is measuring 170 degrees when finished cooking.
