Dollar Tree Grocery Items That Can Save You Hundreds of Dollars On Your Grocery Bill

When it comes to saving money on groceries, most people automatically think of clipping coupons or buying in bulk. However, there’s another way to save big on your grocery bill that you may not have considered: shopping at the Dollar Tree.

That’s right, the discount store that’s known for its low-priced household items also has a surprisingly great selection of food items. Here are some Dollar Tree grocery items that can save you hundreds of dollars on your grocery bill.

With the inflated cost of groceries right now it’s no surprise that people are looking for ways to cut unnecessary expenses from their budget and looking for additional ways to save money on their groceries.

Just the other day I was at Dollar Tree and I was shocked at their selection of grocery items that could truly help cut expenses right now.

By the way, did you know you can shop Dollar Tree Online?

Dollar Tree Grocery Items That Can Save You Hundreds of Dollars On Your Grocery Bill

Bread

This is probably one of my favorite best kept secrets… Did you know that Dollar Tree sells bread?

I am not talking just any bread – name brand bread that is typically $3+ a loaf at other grocery stores.

For example, my favorite bread is the Naked bread. Well, I can find it at Dollar Tree for $1.25 when it’s $4-$6 a loaf at other retailers near me. I typically stock up and freeze bread for future use.

Spices and seasonings

Buying spices and seasonings at the grocery store can get expensive, but at the Dollar Tree, you can find all the basics for just $1.25 each.

Stock up on essentials like salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cinnamon to save money on your seasoning needs. I’ve even found some really unique seasonings like Red Lobster Old Bay Seasoning there too!

Condiments and Sauces

Just like the spices and seasonings, condiments and sauces can add up quickly. Dollar Tree does have a great selection of seasonings, marinades and condiments you can grab for your food stockpile.

I’ve found name brand sauces and these McCormick marinades make dinners at home so easy (and these are cheaper than what you’ll find at even Walmart or Smith’s).

Snacks

The Dollar Tree has a surprisingly great selection of snacks, from chips and crackers to candy and nuts. And at only $1.25 per bag or box, you can indulge your cravings without going over budget.

While many of these items are smaller in size, they can also help stay on track with your diet.

Some of my favorite snacks to get from Dollar Tree are the 6-packs of pretzels, Skinny Pop popcorn and even the Boom Chicka Pop popcorn.

Frozen foods

You might be surprised to find that the Dollar Tree carries a variety of frozen foods, including vegetables, fruits, and even meats. Stock up on frozen veggies to use in soups and casseroles, or grab a bag of frozen chicken breasts to keep on hand for quick weeknight dinners.

Many of these items are $1.25 while others are part of their $2, $3, $5 pricing tiers.

Organic items

We all know that Organic choices are typically the most expensive but did you know that Dollar Tree sells some organic items? If you take the time to look around, you’ll often find some Organic foods that are entire worth the buy. Take these organic tomatoes for example.

Baking supplies

If you enjoy baking, you know how quickly the cost of ingredients can add up. But at the Dollar Tree, you can find everything from flour and sugar to baking powder and vanilla extract for just $1.25 each.

I actually found the full-size boxes of Pillsbury cake mix at my store. I’ve even found cake decorating supplies such as piping bags and piping tips at my local Dollar Tree too!

Drink mixes

If you are a person that needs to increase their water intake, drink mixes are a great way to do that. Instead of paying $3+ a box, you can grab different flavors of drink mixes at your local Dollar Tree. Mine had a ton of different flavors/brands to choose from.

Cereal/Breakfast Items

Now, I’ll admit, not all offerings at Dollar Tree are worth it. For example, those tiny single serve bags of cereal are not. BUT if you can find the full-size boxes of cereal or breakfast items, they are entirely worth the cost.

Milk

If you are looking for self-stable milk for stockpiling or even want to try nut milks, Dollar Tree is a great place to grab some. I’ve found regular milk, oat milk and even almond milk at my local Dollar Tree.

Quick and Easy Meal Ideas

While these are the less healthy options, if you are looking for quick and easy meal ideas for dinner or even lunch to take to school, work, etc. Dollar Tree has a great variety of items.

I’ve found everything from 6-packs of Ramen Noodles to Teriyaki Bowls and everything in between.

Pasta/Dry Goods

Dollar Tree is one of my favorite places to grab pasta if I need to refresh my stockpile. I’ve found some of my favorite brands such as Barilla pasta boxes (full-size!) at my stores before.

I also like to grab items like bags of beans, bags of rice, etc. when I need to grab a quick side dish or need to add to my stockpile.

Whether you are looking to slash your grocery budget, a college student, or want to increase your food stockpile, by shopping at the Dollar Tree for your grocery needs, you can save hundreds of dollars annually without sacrificing quality or variety.

And with new items constantly being added to their inventory, you never know what great deals you might find.

So the next time you’re looking to save money on groceries, don’t overlook the Dollar Tree!

I knew that Dollar Tree had good prices and I try to shop there as often as I can. My problem is that I live in a Nursing Home and have get someone else to shop for me. I don't think that they have delivery? I say that because I only receive Ten Dollars every other week, so I must watch every cent I get!
