Dollar Tree Is No Longer Selling Eggs

If you are an avid shopper at Dollar Tree, you know that $1.25 can go a long way there especially lately if you were one of the few that knew that Dollar Tree sold eggs.

Unfortunately, I have some bad news – – Dollar Tree is no longer selling eggs.

Dollar Tree used to be known for selling $1 eggs. Eggs would be either a 6 count, 8 count, 12 count or 18 count.

However, back in 2021, Dollar Tree announced it would raise prices to $1.25 due to the rising costs of everything.

So, up until now, people could find $1.25 cartons of eggs if they were lucky.

But all of that is going to change for the time being.

Dollar Tree announced they will stop selling eggs in their stores for the time being with hopes of being able to offer eggs on a budget at a future time.

As you may know, egg prices jumped 38% for producers annually in February and 55% for shoppers.

While eggs are beginning to get cheaper, the average price for a dozen Grade A large eggs was $4.21 in February, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That price is still way too much for Dollar Tree’s price point and as a business, it could cause them to lose way too much money. Plus, they don’t want to have to raise the prices again.

In fact, Dollar Tree’s company spokesperson Randy Guiler, said:

“Our primary price point at Dollar Tree is $1.25. The cost of eggs is currently very high,” Dollar Tree, which has around 9,000 US stores, will bring back eggs when “costs are more in line with historical levels.”

Honestly, while that sucks, it entirely makes sense.

I mean, the last thing anyone wants is to have Dollar Tree raise overall prices in order to help offset the cost of eggs.

So, for now, we understand why they need to remove eggs from their stores.

And in case you’re wondering, Family Dollar who is owned by Dollar Tree, will continue selling eggs so grab some there if you need to!
