It’s almost Summer and that means it’s grilling season!

My husband has been firing up our grill all week and perfecting his grilling skills before we have our annual backyard barbecues with family and friends.

By the way, if you’re looking for some good dessert recipes that use pineapple, you should try this Pineapple Pikachui Daiquiri or this Peach and Pineapple Slushie. If you love chocolate, this Tropical Chocolate Bark is perfect for you.

How to make grilled pineapple?

Making grilled pineapple is actually quite easy. The real secret lies in the ingredients you use that help bring out the sweet flavor of the pineapple.

First, you’ll want to start by choosing a ripe pineapple.

How to choose a ripe pineapple?

I typically will smell a pineapple first at the bottom of the pineapple. If it smells sweet, it’s usually a good indication it’s ripe.

You also want to check and see if the leaves of the pineapple are green and alive and if the pineapple seems firm but not too firm (you should be able to press gently into it with it having a little give).

Once you’ve chosen a ripe pineapple, you’ll want to gather these additional ingredients and supplies:

  • Fresh Pineapple
  • Brown Sugar
  • Honey
  • Butter
  • A Large Zipper Bag
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board

First, start by cutting your Pineapple. We’ve found it’s easier to grill if you cut your pineapple into “slabs” like we did below.

Once cut, place them onto your cutting board and drizzle your honey on top of each piece of pineapple.

Now, sprinkle on that brown sugar. By the way, you can totally use light brown sugar or dark, doesn’t matter – it just pairs so well with the sweetness of the pineapple.

Once you’ve done all the that, it’s time to place the pieces of pineapple in a large zipper bag.

Now, here is the hard part – you need to refrigerate the pineapple for a least an hour to allow the honey and sugar to infuse the pineapple prior to grilling.

Once your pineapple has sat in the bag for a least an hour, it’s time to fire up the grill!

Turn your grill onto medium heat and spray it with some non-stick spray.

Carefully place the pineapple onto the grill and allow each side to grill for about 5 minutes.

Apply little pieces of butter as you turn it, this helps keep the pineapple moist because after all, nobody wants dry pineapple. The juices are the best part!

All the pineapple to get those beautiful golden grill marks and then remove and serve!

You can sprinkle additional brown sugar on top prior to serving if you wish but it totally doesn’t need it!
