These donuts pair really well with homemade coffee or even homemade hot chocolate in case you are wondering what to serve them with!

I personally prefer to reheat them in the morning and eat them with my morning coffee. YUM!

Tips for making homemade donuts:

  • Use a donut pan to make the perfect round donut. If you don’t have one, you can get one really inexpensive on Amazon here.
  • Use large baggies with the end snipped off (or a pastry bag) to fill each cavity of the donut pan (it makes it so much easier).
  • Allow the donuts to cool before frosting or your frosting will melt and be a hot mess (literally).
  • Donuts are best served warm (heat them up in the microwave for 10 seconds before serving).
  • Keep any leftover donuts wrapped and in an airtight container or a baggie to avoid them getting hard.

How to make Easy Maple Donuts:

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and prepare a donut plan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

In a large bowl, add eggs, sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a mixing bowl. Mix with the electric mixer until everything is blended.

Slowly add in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, milk, salt, and maple flavoring. Mix well (about 1-2 minutes).

Place the batter into a large baggie or a pastry bag and fill each donut hole cavity with the maple batter up to 3/4 full of the individual donut hole.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them and once they begin to look golden brown, remove from the oven.

Allow the baked donut to cool slightly in the donut pan (about 2-3 minutes).

Once slightly cooled remove the donuts from the donut pan and transfer the donuts to the wire racks to cool completely.

While the donuts are cooling, mix up your icing by adding the confectioners’ sugar in a medium bowl. Slowly begin to add the maple syrup and butter. Stir by hand until the three ingredients have blended. (If necessary add more liquid or powdered sugar.)

Once the donuts have cooled and the frosting is made, put a cookie sheet under the wire rack to catch any drippings from the icing and/or sprinkles.

Using a large spoon to cover each cooled donut with the icing.

Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on iced donuts and allow to cool (you want the icing to set).

Once the icing has set, serve and enjoy!
