Why You’ll Love Our Recipe
- Easy to make with just 2 simple ingredients.
- Can add a splash of alcohol for a fun, boozy adult twist.
- Features a soft crunch, making it a one-of-a-kind treat.
Ingredient Information
- Gummy Bears: You can choose any brand of gummy bears you like. I prefer the Haribo Goldbears or the Albanese Gummy Bears. You can also try this with gummy worms, gummy frogs, etc. Keep in mind that sour varieties don’t work well due to the sugar coating.
- Sprite: We used 20 oz. bottles of Sprite but you can use canned Sprite or even 2-Liters if you are making a larger batch.
Storage Information
Freeze in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Be careful to not let them melt much outside the freezer before freezing them again or they will freeze together making it difficult to eat them.
Making A Boozy Version
If you want to make alcoholic frozen gummy bears for adults, simply swap the Sprite for liquor. Great options include vodka, wine, whiskey, tequila, or even champagne. Use a 1:1 ratio of gummy bears to liquor, and follow the same soaking and freezing steps. For a milder alcohol taste, you can still use Sprite but replace up to 1 cup (8 ounces) with your chosen liquor and proceed with the remaining steps. You will know your gummy bears are ready to be frozen when they have grown in size from soaking up the liquid.
Helpful Tips
- Gummy bears may slide around when you’re transferring them to the freezer, but with a little care, it’s easy to prevent them from slipping.
- Using rubber gloves is the quickest and easiest way to move the soaked gummy bears from the bowl to the baking sheet. While a slotted spoon can work, it tends to break the gummy bears and is slower.
- Be sure to use regular gummy bears, as they’re more durable during soaking and freezing. Avoid types like sour gummies, which don’t hold up as well. Haribo gummy bears work best due to their firmer texture.
