I don’t know about you but I cannot get enough of The Grinch this time of year. Between the movie and deliciously sweet (and cute) grinch recipes like this Grinch Hot Cocoa, I just want to grinch-ify my home.
I haven’t seen the new movie yet (at the time of this post) but the original Grinch movie is one of our family favorite movies. I mean, can Jim Carey truly be beat as the Grinch?
I think not.
That movie was what originally inspired me to create all sorts of grinch recipes. In fact, if you are looking for something else to pair with your grinch hot cocoa, check out this Grinch Crinkle Cookie Recipe.
or, if you want a drink to COOL down with, try this Grinch Punch – it’s literally been shared thousands of times!
And if that truly isn’t enough, you can check out the rest of the Grinch content right here on the site including craft ideas!
Anyways, if you are ready to make this delicious Grinch Hot Cocoa, let’s get to it…
What You’ll Need to Make Grinch Hot Cocoa:
- 4 cups of milk of your choice (can use soy if you have an allergy)
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 8 oz. mint chocolate chips
- 2 drops of green food coloring
- Whipped cream
- Red sanding sugar (for the rim)
How to Make Grinch Hot Cocoa:
First, dip the glass in water then in red sprinkles to coat the rim. This is optional but adds a fun look to the glass.
Now, stir together milk, vanilla, food coloring and mint chocolate in a medium saucepan. You can also use the crock-pot or instant pot to heat this up.
Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, until the white hot chocolate comes to a simmer and is melted. Do not let it boil as you will burn the chocolate and it will smell terrible and not melt properly.
Next, remove from heat and serve immediately, topped with whipped cream.
