Fair warning – these contain alcohol so keep them away from kids and pets.

This is one of those “adult” treats and if you eat too many, you may experience “Resting Grinch Face” HA.

In all seriousness, if you like sweet and sour, these are going to be your go-to jello shot recipe especially for the holidays!

Note: You can certainly make these non-alcoholic so kids can enjoy them too. Just follow the recipe but leave out the vodka.

For this Grinch Jello Shot Recipe I used the Lime Jello Flavor but you can use any flavor you’d like just as long as it’s green. They even make a Jolly Ranchers Gelatin that is green apple flavor that I bet would be ah-mazing!

We used heart sprinkles and attached them on the outside of the shot glass but you can use them as a topper instead and make them edible. Since we hot glued ours to the outside of the glass, they will not be edible.

What You Need to Make Grinch Jello Shots:

How to Make Grinch Jello Shots:

Start by glueing on the red heart candies onto the outside of the plastic shot glasses. Be sure to attach them to the lower half of the glass.

Now, follow introductions on the jello box and make the jello. The instructions should call for two cups of water. One to boil that gets added in with the jello packet and one to add in after contents have dissolved. The only thing that we are going to change is instead of the second cup being water we are going to use a cup of vodka in its place. Before adding in vodka be sure that the boiled water has cooled a bit so that you don’t cook out the alcohol.

Once your boozy jello mix is done and the contents of the jello packet have dissolved, start filling up the plastic shot glasses. Using a funnel and a spoon or small measuring cup makes this part much easier. Be sure not to fill cups all the way to the rim.

When you are done filling the shot glasses, place them in the fridge to cool for 30 minutes to 1 hour or until the Jello is firm.

When the jello has cooled and is solid, remove from fridge.

Top with whipped cream and red sprinkles right before serving.

Enjoy!

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE:

  • We used plastic shot glasses to make clean up easy. Just toss them in the garbage when done.
  • You will want to add the whipped cream and sprinkles right before serving as the whipped cream will begin melting.
  • Do not boil the vodka in the pan with the water for the Jello, you will burn out the alcohol.
  • These can be made ahead of time (minus the whipped topping and sprinkles) just be sure to keep them refrigerated.
  • Using a funnel and measuring cup makes filling the shot glasses easier.
  • You can place all of the shot glasses on a cookie sheet then fill and transport to the fridge to make it even easier.
