What You Need to Make Grinch Oreo Balls

  • Oreos – I used regular but you can even use the red velvet and make the inside red.
  • Vibrant Green Candy Melts – These are easier to work with than coloring white chocolate chips
  • Cream Cheese, room temperature
  • Coconut Oil
  • Large Red Heart Sprinkles – I prefer this kind.

Helpful Tips

  • If your chocolate starts to get “gloppy” part way through dipping your balls, simply reheat for a few seconds and add just a dab of coconut oil.
  • If you have trouble with your balls coming off the toothpick, use a secondary toothpick to guide it onto the sheet.
  • If you have chocolate missing in some places, simply use a toothpick to fill in missing gaps. The goal is to not have any Oreo mixture showing through.
  • If your chocolate drizzle dries too quickly for your hearts to adhere, simply add a dab of the chocolate to the back of the heart and secure it to the Oreo ball.
  • Don’t make your balls too big or they will be difficult to dip and handle. I wouldn’t go any bigger than an inch in size.

How to make Grinch Oreo balls for the holidays

Equipment

  • Cookie Sheet
  • Long Toothpicks
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Small Microwave-Safe Bowl
  • Frosting Bag
  • Rubber Spatula
  • Small Cup or Jar
  • Food Processor

Ingredients

  • 36 Oreos
  • 12 Ounces Vibrant Green Candy Melts
  • 8 Ounces Cream Cheese room temp
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • Large Red Heart Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a standard cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the Oreos in the food processor and chop them until they’re finely chopped with no large chunks.
  • Place the Oreos and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and mix until fully combined.
  • Roll into 1-inch balls and place on the cookie sheet.
  • Place the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high for about 3 minutes or until smooth and creamy with stirred. Pause every 30 seconds during the cooking process to stir or adjust the candy melts so they won’t burn.
  • Add the coconut oil to the chocolate and stir well. If it still seems a little thick, add more coconut oil.
  • Place the chocolate in a small jar or cup and use the toothpicks to dip each ball in chocolate, completely coating them. Tap them on the edge of the cup gently to remove excess chocolate and place them back on the cookie sheet.
  • Chill for about 10 minutes or until hardened.
  • Place the remaining chocolate in a frosting bag and use a pair of scissors to cut a small tip off the end of the bag.
  • Once the balls have hardened, drizzle them with the chocolate and immediately place a red heart sprinkle on the top middle of each ball.
  • Chill for about 5 minutes or until hardened. Enjoy!
