How do you make black jello?

The black part of the jello shot is actually made with grape jello. Although it is purple, when it sets, it looks more black, especially against the orange jello layer. You can also add 1-2 drops of black gel food coloring to make it darker if you want.

Can I use vodka?

Yes! You can use any type of alcohol you have on hand or want to use. Plain or Vanilla Vodka pair well with the flavored jello. You can also use spiced rum, white rum or tequila.

You can easily make these 2-3 days in advance and keep the refrigerated until ready to serve.
