It is almost May which means we are that much closer to summer, the warmer weather and of course, road trips! I don’t know about you, but whenever I take a road trip I like to bring snacks and some good music to keep things interesting. However, because I am on this “eating better” kick I wanted to share a quick way on how you can take a Healthy Road Trip Basket with you!

What You Need to Make a Healthy Road Trip Basket:

Healthy Stuff! But to be more specific….

How to Make a Healthy Road Trip Basket:

First and foremast, you must go shopping for all your healthy road trip basket. Tip: Don’t go when you are hungry because you will want every unhealthy option! Personally, when I know we are heading for a long drive, I like to shop for snacks in bulk. As a family of 4, it’s easy to spend a good chunk of vacation money on food alone. That is why I love to buy in bulk and visit my local Sam’s Club prior to our trip.

This trip we wanted around a bit to find healthier options versus the regular snacks like jerky and potato chips. So, we tracked down some snacks from Annie’s, Cascadian Farm and even LaraBar. Aside from quick portable snacks, they also had meal items and even Annie’s Cocoa Bunnies cereal (my kids love cereal in plastic bags for a quick snack).

Next, I picked up a totally adorable mint bin at my local grocery store to put all our snacks in. I like the tin ones since they help keep drinks cold longer.

Finally, just assemble it all! Fill up that basket with wholesome goodness so you aren’t filling it with anything high in sugar and calories!

Next Time You Think Organic, Buy in Bulk

As I mentioned, I love buying in bulk because we are getting enough to feed a family of 4 (or more) but also staying within our budget. When comes to Organic foods, it’s hard to find something the entire family will love without spending a fortune. That is part of the reason I love buying at Sam’s Club. They have great prices and variety. They make buying Natural and Organic easy. So, next time you are at your local Sam’s Club, take around at what they have to offer!

I actually realized my Sam’s Club marked all the Organic products with a green sign to make shopping even easier!
