This Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Recipe is the perfect homemade hot chocolate to serve up to the whole family on a cold day.
I don’t know a single person that doesn’t love chocolate and chocolate in a warm drink? It might as well be heaven in a cup.
If you ask me, nothing beats a warm drink made with real milk, heavy whipping cream, real chocolate and vanilla.
This truly is the best hot chocolate and since it’s so easy to make, you can make it for a large crowd such as holiday parties. I am sure it will be a huge hit!
You can even make it alongside a hot cocoa bar with different mix-ins such as peppermint sticks, mini marshmallows, caramel sauce, etc.

Things to Note:
- You can use candy canes as stirrers
- You can customize this recipe to fit your liking such as using milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips or even white chocolate chips instead.
- This makes a big batch of hot chocolate but you can double or even triple the recipe as needed.
What You’ll Need to Make Homemade Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate
- Milk – I used whole milk for a creamier consistency but you can use a milk alternative such as almond milk, soy milk, etc.
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Heavy whipping cream
- Vanilla Extract
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips

- Whipped cream
- Miniature marshmallows
- Chocolate sauce
- Miniature chocolate chips
- Sprinkles
How to Make Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate
Once you’ve gathered all of your ingredients, you will place them into your slow cooker, crock pot or Instapot and place on warm (or low heat).
Allow this to simmer for a couple of hours and then you’ll have the perfect cup of hot chocolate!
Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 6 Cups Milk
- 1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk 14 oz
- 1 ½ Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- ½ tablespoon Vanilla
- 2 Cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- In your crockpot, combine milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, vanilla, and chocolate chips.
- Stir, and cook on low, 2 hours, or until chocolate is melted and steamy, stirring occasionally.
- Serve with your favorite hot chocolate toppings.
