With the First Official Black Friday 2012 Ad being released, I thought I’d share with you all some great tips on How To Save Big on Black Friday. I have highlighted the best tips that were featured in the November 16th Issue of All You. I hope you find these useful while shopping this Black Friday. Enjoy!
Before Black Friday
1 Week Before- Plan your list. Take a few minutes to put together a wish list, and then head to Facebook to ‘Like’ your favorite brands. Be sure you are signing up for their email updates and follow them on Twitter to ensure you will receive any special promotions and deals that will be released. With your list in hand, look for leaked sales information (Check Bargains with Brittanie for up to date information) and websites such as BlackFriday.com and Blackfriday.bradsdeals.com. Prioritize your shopping list according to the best deals you find.
Five Days Before- Plan how you’ll spend. Consider the pros and cons of cash versus credit. Shoppers who use cash end up spending about 20% less on average. However, using a credit card with incentives such as cash back or additional points during the holidays can score you extra savings. I suggest checking with your credit card company to see what incentives they will be offering this holiday season.
Three Days Before- Organize your itinerary. Call the stores on your list to learn what time they will open (it may be stated on their ad’s as well) and plan your day accordingly. Go early in the morning to retailers that are selling hot items that are likely to sell out fast. Head to stores to check out the layout. I know that some stores offer maps of where items will be. You can check online or call your local retailer and request one.
During Black Friday
Use Your Smartphone- Kill time while waiting in line by downloading a few free apps that can help you save while shopping. The TGI Black Friday app lets you view updated ads and compare prices. Dealnews offers a Black Friday app that gives you leaked and regular ads. Also check in on Foursquare to score special deals.
Keep Your Eyes On The Prize- Navigate the store wisely. In general, the most expensive items are kept at eye-level, while lower-cost versions are stocked on the shelves above or below. Desirable products, like sale items, are placed towards the back of the store to draw you in.
Buy Now Trade Later- If you see an item you want but it’s the wrong size, buy it! If the retailer allows returns and exchanges on sale merchandise, buy the item at a discount and bring it back the next week when the store may have different sizes. This ensures you get the item you want at the price you can afford.
Of Course I did not write everything that is in the issue. If you would like to read more black friday tips be sure to grab your November Issue of All You. You can also sign-up for a year subscription by clicking the image below:
