How to Start Off On A Positive Note Every Day

This year I truly decided to start off on a positive note every day because everything you do and the way you react to situations are better when you are positive and happy.

That’s not to say that sometimes I get upset, or need to deal with stress because we all do but honestly, it’s how we handle those situations that can make a huge difference in our lives.

Trust me, it may sound like it’s easier said than done, and it can be. But as someone who has had a lot of bad luck over the years, I’ve found that being angry or negative never made a situation worse.

Okay, by now, hopefully you believe me. So, let’s get onto How to Start Off On A Positive Note Every Day…

How to Start Off On A Positive Note Every Day

Simplify Your Mornings

I don’t know about you, but I am not a morning person except when I have to be (which as a parent, that’s pretty much every day). As someone that dreads mornings, I think simplifying your mornings is one of the best ways to get a positive start to your day.

Simplify your mornings by allowing yourself time to wake up, enjoy some coffee, do a few stretches, and spend time eating breakfast with your family.

The last thing you want to do is wake up, have to wrap your head around your kids story about Fortnite and be overwhelmed with your to-do list.

Give Yourself Extra Time

We’ve all had the morning, many mornings in fact, where we feel rushed off our feet. We all know how that feels.

Waking up at a certain time with only a meer twenty to thirty minutes to arrive at our first responsibility of the day. We might only have time to take a shower and eat something very quickly in the meantime before we get there.

This can leave us feeling worn out, and this kind of violent awakening can only contribute to a negative mood. We all know it can throw us off for the rest of the day.

Trust me, if I don’t have enough time to drink my coffee it’s like World War III here (not really but you get the idea).

Some ideas to give yourself more time:

  • Go to bed earlier
  • Wake up earlier
  • Schedule appointments for later in the afternoon/evening
  • Meal prep for the week ahead so your meals are ready-to-go
  • Use delivery services for important household items/groceries
  • Hire a maid or nanny several times a week if your budget allows it

Can you imagine how it’d feel to have enough time to take a nice long hot shower, to peacefully get dressed or to finally learn ‘how to contour and highlight?’.

Trust me, allowing yourself more time in the morning will help with your overall mood.

Stay Away From Social Media

How many of us wake up in the morning and look at our phones immediately? We might scroll the news, clear out Twitter notifications, read a few articles, perhaps check a few emails.

Before we know it twenty minutes have elapsed and we’ve been looking at our phones. And honestly, there isn’t always great things to see online. From political postings to world news, it’s hard to remain positive when we see the negative from the moment we awake.

Stay away from social media especially first thing in the morning.

Often, it can’t help, and can only hinder your best, most positive action. Once you’ve enjoyed your breakfast, had a shower, have had time to shake off the lethargy of the night, then you might decide to check your phone notifications.

A good way to ensure you follow this rule is to set important contacts and phone calls to a certain, unique and loud ringtone. Everything else you can keep in the ‘vibrate functionality’ until you change it to something else. This way, your efforts to not look at your phone shouldn’t leave you out-of-the-loop should you need to attend an emergency of some kind.

Something I try to remember that someone once told me was “Negativity breathes negativity and positivity breathes positivity”.

Stay On A Regular Schedule

Once you’ve decided to embark on this new positive way of life, you’ll want to try to stick to a regular schedule as much as possible.

I know I don’t work well with chaos. I work so much better with plans and schedules. These allow me to tell my time where to go so I feel more productive throughout the day.

Aside from that, your body clock is an incredible thing, and something that many of us take for granted.

Tell yourself that you’re going to wake up at a certain time, and go to bed roughly eight and a half hours beforehand. Keep doing that. Stay regular.

In a few days, that will be your new ‘set time,’ almost as if you set an internal alarm clock.

This way, you can wake up feeling rested. We all know we function better and are more healthy when we obtain the right amount of sleep.

I am hoping these tips will help you start and stay on a positive note each day. I know as soon as I started implementing many of these tips, I was able to become a better mom, wife and business woman and I saw changes in myself that helped me truly love myself again.
