What You Need to Make Layered Taco Dip

  • Refried Beans – You can use pinto or black refried beans depending on your preference.
  • Cream Cheese- You can use fat free or light to cut down on calories
  • Sour Cream– You can use fat free or light to cut down on calories
  • Taco Seasoning – This gives it great flavor
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese – You can also use a Colby jack or Mexican style cheese
  • Green Onions – Fresh are best
  • Olives – I used sliced black olives
  • Salsa – You can use a chunky canned salsa or make your own Pico De Gallo
  • Guacamole – You can make your own or use store-bought

Helpful Tips

  • You can make this ahead of time and place into the fridge to chill.
  • If serving outside at a bbq or event, you can put a pan of ice underneath to keep it chilled.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 1-2 days in an airtight container. Keep in mind the guacamole may brown.

How to make a delicious layered taco dip that is perfect for parties!

  • 2 16 oz. cans of refried beans
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 ounces taco seasoning
  • 2 cups prepared pico de gallo or chunky salsa
  • 12 ounces guacamole
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup green onion sliced
  • ¼ cup cilantro chopped
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • 1 fresh roma tomato chopped, optional


  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together refried beans, and 1 oz. of the taco seasoning. Set aside
  • In another mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, until smooth. Add sour cream and remaining 1 oz. taco seasoning. Mix until well combined.
  • In an 8×11 inch baking dish, add the refried beans in a layer to the bottom of the dish.
  • For the next layer, add the sour cream mixture, and smooth out evenly.
  • Next, add the guacamole, and smooth into an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the pico de gallo over the guacamole.
  • Top everything with the 2 cups shredded cheese, and then sprinkle the green onion, cilantro, olives, and chopped tomato over top
  • Chill for about an hour, and serve with tortilla or corn chips.
