Monster Eye Jello Shots are the Halloween Jello Shots you need to make! They are easy to make and will surely creep your guests out at your next Halloween party!
Monster Eye Jello Shots
Jello Shots are sort of my jam. I love coming up with new creations that taste great and look awesome.
A few years ago I made some Halloween Eyeball Jello Shots that went viral so I decided this year, I wanted to make something similar but a bit more creepy and that’s where these Monster Eye Jello Shots were born.
Instead of using gummy eyeballs like I did in the other recipe, this recipe calls for candy eyeballs which end up looking pretty cool as they sort of melt into the jello mixture. The result makes them look like you have creepy eyeballs staring back at you.
If you can mix up a few ingredients and throw them into a shot glass, you can make these fun Halloween treats in a blink of an eye (no pun intended).

What You Need to Make Monster Eye Jello Shots
- Grape Jello
- Water
- Vanilla Vodka
- Candy Eye’s – assorted sizes
- Dark Purple Sanding Sugar – to rim the glasses
- 2 oz. Plastic Shot Glasses
How many servings does this recipe make?
This recipe will make 24-36 jello shots depending on the size of jello shot cup you use and the amount you fill them with. I used 2 oz. plastic jello shot cups.
What can I use instead of Vanilla Vodka?
White Tequila, Gin, White Rum or plain Vodka are all great substitutes for this recipe.
How far in advance can I make these?
I wouldn’t make them more than a day in advance. The reason is, the candy eyeballs tend to melt with the condensation from the fridge. I’d try to make them the morning of your party or at the latest, the night before.
Are these kid-friendly?
Absolutely not. These are jello shots that contain alcohol and should only be consumed by adults 21 years of age and older. You can make a kid-friendly version by removing the alcohol from the recipe and substituting for water or white grape juice.
How to Make Monster Eye Jello Shots
In a large heavy bottomed sauce pan, bring 2 cups of Water to a boil, and turn off the heat. Remove the pan from the burner, and stir in the Grape Jello, until dissolved – about 2 minutes.
When Jello is dissolved, add 2 cups of Cold Water and the Vodka, and stir well.
Place the Purple Sugars in a shallow dish, and dip the rims of the plastic shot glasses in the Jello mixture, and then in the Sugars to coat the rims.
Place the dipped shot glasses on a cookie sheet, and allow the Sugars to set/harden on the glasses, about 20 minutes.
Spoon or ladle the Grape Jello mixture into the glasses (I actually find using a turkey baster works amazingly well), filling them with the Jello.
Once all the glasses have been filled, place the Cookie Sheet in the Refrigerator.
When the Jello is partially set, place the Eyes down in the Jello in the glasses (You may have to push the Eyes down in the Jello – you can use a drinking straw to push them). I used a larger candy eyeball for the inside and smaller eyeballs on top.
Place Eyes on the top of the Jello, and then let the Jello set completely – overnight in the refrigerator.
When the Jello is set, the Jello shots can be served. Enjoy!
