Monster Oreos

When it comes to Fall, pumpkin desserts are at the top of my list.

While I do enjoy the typical pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie in other forms are just as good too!

These mini pumpkin hand pies are so easy to make and are the perfect dessert to serve up at Thanksgiving or any Fall party where you want to serve up something unique in fun pumpkin shapes.

What You Need to Make Monster Oreos

Can I use Halloween Oreos?

You totally can! Halloween Oreos would be a fun addition to these since the filling is orange!

Can I use pre-colored candy melts?

Yes! If you’d rather skip coloring the chocolate bark, you can purchase the Wilton-colored candy melts and use those instead. I just prefer the taste of the almond bark.

Does almond bark contain almonds?

Despite its name, almond bark does not contain almonds. I have a severe almond allergy and I have never had a reaction eating almond bark.

Can I use regular food coloring?

No. Regular food coloring is water-based and will cause the melted chocolate to seize and harden. Use only gel food coloring as it is oil based.

How to Make a Monster Oreos

Place the White Chocolate Almond Bark in a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave until completely melted (do this in 30-second increments being careful to not burn the chocolate).

Divide evenly into Three bowls.

Color one bowl Orange, one bowl Green, and one bowl Purple (or any color combination you’d like).

Fill the molds half full of the Chocolate, and press an Oreo into the Colored Chocolate, and then fill the Mold with more Chocolate, covering the Oreo.

Spread a small amount of the same color melted chocolate on the top of the cookie, and cover the chocolate in the Sprinkles of choice. (See photo).

Dip the end of a small spoon in the melted chocolate, and place the chocolate on the back of the eyes, and stick the eyes to the Cookie; use as many or as little eyes as you choose on the Cookies.

Allow about an hour for the Sprinkles and Eyes to set.

Serve, and Enjoy!

NOTE:  You may have to place the Chocolate back in the microwave while making or decorating the Cookies.  Just melt it at about 15 second intervals, stirring between times, until melted.
