These Pokemon Poke Ball Hot Chocolate Bombs are perfect for any Pokemon Party. Stuffed with hot cocoa, Pikachu sprinkles and mini marshmallows, they melt in a warm cup of milk for the perfect cup of hot chocolate.
I grew up loving Pokemon and now my kids love it too. In fact, we still play Pokemon Go on a daily basis (add me — my friend code is 7672 6599 1020 I promise I send gifts).
That is exactly why we knew that we had to come up with a way to make Pokemon Hot Chocolate Bombs and OMG I think we totally knocked it out of the water – or milk, ha!
These hot chocolate bombs are made with colored melting wafers to create that two-tone effect like a Pokemon Poke Ball. I then made my own sprinkle mix that is inspired by Pikachu.
The details on the poke ball are made using fondant which is totally edible and melts perfectly in a hot cup of milk. It even turns your milk purple!
This idea is something that just came to me and is entirely new and different. You won’t find these anywhere else!
Hot Cocoa Bomb Tips:
- Avoid getting the candy melts wet (as in with water) or they will seize and will be ruined.
- The chocolate bombs need to be stored somewhere cool or they will melt.
- Avoid holding or touching the hot cocoa bombs for too long or they will melt in your hands.
- You can wear food safe gloves to avoid getting fingerprints on your chocolate bombs.
- To have easier control of the silicone molds and to make the chocolate come out easier, you can cut the silicone molds so that each sphere mold is by itself. You can read how to cut your hot chocolate bomb mold here.
- To make a hot plate, place a microwave safe plate inside the microwave for 30 seconds and check on it. If it’s hot enough, remove with a heat resistant mitten. If not, heat for another 30 seconds until hot.
- To store, keep them in an airtight container in fridge to avoid melting.
- You do not need to spray the silicone mold with cooking spray, the hot cocoa bombs pop right out without any extra steps.
- You can place them inside sealed bags for gift giving.
How to Use Hot Chocolate Bombs
Once your hot chocolate bomb is ready to be used, drop into 8-10 oz of hot milk or stick into the bottom of a cup and pour 8-10 oz of hot milk over the chocolate bomb.
Watch the hot chocolate bomb melt before your eyes. Stir and drink to enjoy!
You can use whatever milk you want such as whole, skim or even almond milk. We use 1% milk.
Keep in mind, use less milk if you want a more rich taste and use more milk if you want a less rich taste.

How To Make Pokemon Poke Ball Hot Chocolate Bombs
This recipe will make 4 hot chocolate bombs that are about 1.9″ in diameter and work great in regular sized or wide mugs.
First, start by making your sprinkle mix. I used the $1 packs at Michael’s and created my own mix. I used yellow, black and white regular sprinkles and red confetti sprinkles. I then lightly mixed them.
Next, melting your white chocolate in the microwave. Heat for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until melted. Be careful not to burn.
Fill 4 cavities in the mold with a spoonful of white chocolate and spoon the chocolate up the sides covering entirely.
Allow this to sit for a few minutes to being to harden and then apply a second coat. This will ensure the chocolate ball spheres won’t crack when you take them out of the mold.
Repeat the steps above with the red melting candy melts to melt and fill the other 4 cavities with the red color.
By this step, you will have 4 white molds and 4 red molds (this is for the top and bottom of the poke ball).
Place into the fridge for 5-10 minutes and allow these to harden.
Once done, gently pop the chocolate spheres out of the silicone mold and make a hot plate. Place one of the white halves of chocolate onto the hot plate to get the edges melted.
Fill that side with hot cocoa mix, 4-6 mini marshmallows and a bit of the Pikachu sprinkle mix.
Heat one of the red sides of the hot cocoa bomb on the hot plate and then attach the two halves together. You can use your finger to smear the chocolate around the seam to ensure the molds are stuck together.
You will have a poke ball with the white being at the bottom and the red at the top.
Next, roll out small pieces of black and white fondant. You are going to cut pieces for the flat black ball, the black line that goes around the diameter of the cocoa bomb and a small white round piece that will go on the top for the button.
You can measure the diameter of your hot chocolate bomb using a piece of string and then cut a black piece of fondant out the same length.
Once the pieces of your fondant are cut, apply them by using a bit of the melted chocolate onto the hot chocolate bomb. Gently place the pieces of fondant onto the hot cocoa bomb and allow to harden.
Once dry, your Pokemon Hot Chocolate Bomb is ready to use or ready to be wrapped for gift giving.

Does fondant easily dissolve?
Yes it does in the hot milk quite well. The video in the post shows you 🙂
