Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t find Berry Blue Jello?
If you can’t find the berry blue jello, any blue gelatin mix will work. You just want to make sure the color is blue so it can look like the “pool water” for the perfect jello shots for summer.

What else can I use besides the Malibu rum?
You can use any clear alcohol you’d like. Vodka, flavored vodka, tequila and other white rums can be used in place of the Malibu Rum. I personally enjoy these fun summer jello shots with the coconut rum.

Can I make a kid-friendly version of this?
Yes! If you want to make a kid-friendly version of these jello shots, just omit the alcohol. Make sure you add back in the 1 cup of Malibu Rum by adding in 1 cup of cold water. Also, the gummies can be a choking hazard so ensure children can chew these candies before giving it to them.

What kind of gummy candy should I use?
You can use any kind of gummy peach rings and gummy bears you’d like. However, my personal favorite is the Albanese brand. I think they taste and look the best. I couldn’t find any locally when I made these but I highly recommend using those brands.

How many jello shots does this recipe make?
This recipe makes 8 jello shot cups. However, I did use the bigger 5.5 oz cups. You can get more jello shot cups if you use smaller 2-3 oz. plastic shot cups.

How to Make Pool Party Jello Shots

Begin by heating 1 cup of water in a pan on the stovetop. Bring water to a boil and add gelatin mix, remove from heat and stir until dissolved.

Let cool for about 15 minutes and then add 1 cup of Malibu rum.

Carefully fill each plastic shot cup with the jello shot mixture until they are almost full (leave about 1/4 inch to the top to allow the gummy peach ring to go on top). Place the jello cups on a baking sheet or in a shallow baking pan for easy transport to the fridge.

Place jello shots in the fridge and let them set up for a couple hours until they are firm and ready to serve.

Right before serving, add two peach rings on top of the jello and kind of push them down into the jello a little bit. Then place one gummy bear on top in the middle of the peach ring!

Serve and Enjoy!
