Here’s The List of Product Recalls You Should Be Aware Of

As consumers, the best way we can be safe from getting sick or hurt from our product purchases is by keeping ourselves informed of potential product recalls.

Lucky for you, I’ve compiled the current list of product recalls you should be aware of below. Keep an eye on this page as new product recalls will be added as they are announced.

December 2024 Product Recalls

Stanley Switchback Mugs

Stanley is recalling 2.6 Million Switchback and Trigger Action Travel Mugs Due to Burn Hazard. According to the recall, these mug’s lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use, posing a burn hazard.

This recall involves all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the United States. The recalled double-walled mugs were sold in a variety of colors, including white, black and green, in 12 oz., 16 oz. and 20 oz. sizes with a polypropylene lid. The Stanley logo appears on the front and bottom of the mug. The recalled mugs have one of the following product identification numbers printed on the bottom of the mug.

Lays Potato Chips

The FDA has issued a recall for some Lays Potato Chips for containing undeclared milk. While this may not seem like a big deal, those with dairy or milk allergies, should be aware before consuming these products. “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.”

The product included in this recall was distributed to certain retail stores and e-commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington. Consumers would have been able to purchase these chips as early as November 3, 2024.

What to do: If consumers have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately. Frito-Lay has informed the FDA of this action. Consumers with the product described above can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday).

November 2024 Product Recalls

Costco Eggs

Costco has issued a recall on 10,000 eggs and you will want to check your fridge before you accidentally consume them! Handsome Brook Farm voluntarily recalled 10,800 units of Organic Pasture Raised 24-Count Eggs sold under the Kirkland Signature brand at Costco due to potential Salmonella contamination. The company accidentally packed and distributed eggs that were not intended for sale.

The recalled eggs were distributed to 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee beginning November 22. The recall only applies to eggs sold in a plastic carton marked with a UPC 9661910680, the Julian code 327, and a Use By Date of Jan 6, 2025. No other eggs were impacted by this recall.

Grimmway Farms Carrots

A massive carrot recall is underway! Grimmway Farms initiated a voluntary recall of multiple sizes and brands of bagged organic whole and baby carrots due to an E. coli outbreak.

  • Organic whole carrots were available for purchase at retail from August 14 through October 23, 2024 (365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Marketside, Nature’s Promise, O Organic, President’s Choice, Simple Truth, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Wholesome Pantry).
  • Organic baby carrots include specific best-if-used-by dates printed on the bags ranging from September 11 to November 12, 2024 (365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Grimmway Farms, Kroger, LIDL, Marketside, Nature’s Promise, O Organic, President’s Choice, Raley’s, Simple Truth, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Wholesome Pantry).

What to do: Consumers should check their refrigerators and freezers and should not eat recalled bagged whole or baby carrots. If you have these products in your home, do not eat or use them, throw them away, and clean and sanitize surfaces they touched. If you purchased organic whole or baby carrots and stored them without the original packaging and don’t know what brand they are, you should not eat them and should throw them away.

October 2024 Product Recalls

TreeHouse Foods Waffles

TreeHouse Foods has issued a recall for select frozen waffle products due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall is being carried out with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA).

The affected products were distributed throughout the United States and Canada and packed in various formats under several brand names like Clover Valley, Food Lion, Giant Eagle, Target’s Good & Gather, Walmart’s Great Value, Harris Teeter, Kodiak Cakes, Publix, Simple Truth, ALDI’s Breakfast Best, and more.

What to do: Consumers should check their freezers for any of the products listed above and dispose of them or return the recalled product to the place of purchase for credit. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 800-596-2903, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (CST).

Fisher-Price Infant Swings

Calling all parents and care givers – Fisher-Price is recalling all models of their Fisher-Price Snuga Swings due to suffocation hazard.

Approximately 2.1 million swings were sold in the United States, about 99,000 swings were sold in Canada and about 500 swings were sold in Mexico. Between 2012 and 2022, there have been reports of five deaths involving infants 1 to 3 months of age when the product was used for sleep. In most of those incidents, the infants were unrestrained and bedding materials were added to the product.

What to do: Consumers should immediately remove both the headrest (by cutting the tether) and the body support insert from the seat pad before continuing to use the swing. Fisher-Price will provide a $25 refund to consumers who remove and destroy the headrest and body support insert. Instructions can be found at www.service.mattel.com

BrucePac Recalls Ready-To-Eat Meat and Poultry Products

 The Food and Drug Administration has announced the recall of approximately 10 million pounds of prepackaged meat and poultry distributed by BrucePac due to listeria contamination.

The recall applies to ready-to-eat meat and poultry items that were produced from June 19, 2024, to October 8, 2024. These products were shipped to other establishments and distributors nationwide then distributed to restaurants and institutions.

Retailers such as Walmart, Trader Joe’s, H-E-B, and ALDI.

August 2024 Product Recalls

Great Value Brand Apple Juice

Walmart has recalled nearly 10,000 cases of apple juice sold in stores across the U.S. that were found to contain potentially harmful levels of inorganic arsenic.

The recall applies to 9,535 cases of Great Value brand apple juice sold in 25 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

The affected products are: Great Value; 8oz Apple Juice in 6 pack; 100% Juice; packaged in 8 oz. PET plastic bottles; UPC 0-78742-29655-5.

What to do: If you have this product, stop using it immediately and contact Walmart for a refund or replacement.

Perdue Frozen Ready-To-Eat Chicken Products

Perdue Foods LLC, a Perry, Ga. establishment, is recalling approximately 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nugget and tender products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal.

The following products are subject to recall [view labels]:

  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE Simply  Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
  • 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed packages containing “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.

What to do: If you have a product that is affected by this recall, you are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Perdue Consumer Care at 1-866-866-3703.

Samsung Slide-In Electric Ranges

Samsung Electronics America Inc. has announced a voluntary recall for certain slide-in electric range models with front-mounted knobs. The remedy for this recall is free knob locks or covers for specific models sold in the U.S. between 2013 and 2024.

This announcement addresses potential activation of range knobs through accidental contact by people or pets, posing a fire hazard if flammable objects are left on top of the range.

July 2024 Product Recalls

Boar’s Head Deli Meat

The establishment is recalling approximately 7 million additional pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. Whole genome sequencing results show that a liverwurst sample collected by the Maryland Department of Health tested positive for the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes.

This expansion includes 71 products produced between May 10, 2024, and July 29, 2024, under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brand names. These items include meat intended for slicing at retail delis as well as some packaged meat and poultry products sold at retail locations. These products have “sell by” dates ranging from 29-JUL-2024 through 17-OCT-24. View full product listView labels.

Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc., a Jarratt, Va., establishment, is recalling all liverwurst product produced by the establishment that is currently available in commerce because it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

The ready-to-eat liverwurst products were produced between June 11, 2024, and July 17, 2024, and have a 44-day shelf life. The following liverwurst products are subject to recall [view labels]:       

  • 3.5-lb. loaves in plastic casing, or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head Strassburger Brand Liverwurst MADE IN VIRGINIA.” The products shipped to retailers bear sell by dates ranging July 25, 2024, to Aug. 30, 2024, printed on the side of the packaging.

The other ready-to-eat deli meat products were produced on June 27, 2024. The following deli meat products are subject to recall:

  • 9.5-lb. and 4.5-lb. full product, or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head VIRGINIA HAM OLD FASHIONED HAM” with sell by date “AUG 10” on the product packaging.
  • 4-lb., or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head ITALIAN CAPPY STYLE HAM” with sell by date “AUG 10” on the product packaging.
  • 6-lb., or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head EXTRA HOT ITALIAN CAPPY STYLE HAM” with sell by date “AUG 10” on the product packaging.
  • 4-lb., or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head BOLOGNA” with sell by date “AUG 10” on the product packaging.
  • 2.5-lb., or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head BEEF SALAMI” with sell by date “AUG 10” on the product packaging.
  • 5.5-lb., or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head STEAKHOUSE ROASTED BACON HEAT & EAT” with sell by date “AUG 15” on the product packaging.
  • 3-lb., or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, containing “Boar’s Head GARLIC BOLOGNA” with sell by date “AUG 10” on the product packaging.

Wiers Farm Produce

Effected retailers: Walmart and Aldi.

Out of an abundance of caution, Wiers Farm Inc. of Willard, OH, is expanding its July 12, 2024, recall to include additional produce because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Products involved in this expanded recall were packed between July 5-12 (2024). Wiers Farm Inc. is committed to implementing all measures necessary to fully resolve this situation.

BISSELL® Steam Shot™ Handheld Steam Cleaners

BISSELL is recalling select models of Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners because the steam cleaners can expel hot water or steam onto users while heating or during use, posing a burn hazard.

Affected models are model numbers that begin with: 39N7 and 2994 sold at retailers, including Target, Walmart, and other stores, plus, online sites Amazon.com, HSN.com and Bissell.com and more from Aug. 2008 – May 2024.

What to do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled steam cleaners, and contact BISSELL to receive either a $60 credit to be used towards a BISSELL.com purchase, or a $40 refund for each of the recalled steam cleaners. Consumers should visit www.BISSELL.com/steamshotrecall to register for the recall, and for instructions on how to cut the cord and take and upload a photo of the steam cleaner showing the model number and cut cord.
