Should You Move To A Rural Community?

Many people dream of moving to the country, away from the stress and hustle of city living. Even if you thrived on that urban environment at one time, people can change and want different things as their circumstances change. With so many amazing places to choose from, it’s no wonder it’s becoming a popular choice.

But what are the pros and cons of moving to a rural area right now? There may be some that you’ve never considered before. Here’s a list of just a few of them.

You Can Get More For Your Money

In a lot of rural areas, you can get a much bigger property for your budget. In popular urban areas, space is at a premium. Houses tend to be smaller and without a lot of land around them.

Community Spirit

It’s a bit of a stereotype that rural neighbors and towns know each other better.  This tends to be true as being slightly further out of well-populated areas can build up a sense of camaraderie. There are also fewer people to get to know. If you move to an area that has bad winters, then people will pull together to make sure that everyone is OK. If you’re in a remote, location, it’s a good idea to use Generac generators from GenerX to make sure that your power

Healthier Life

If you’re seeking out a more relaxed pace of life, this is going to benefit you in a number of ways both mentally and physically. Usually, there will be better air quality, which is good for your cardiovascular health.  Less stress is also good for you mentally. If you’re someone who lives with stress or anxiety, then you may find an improvement in these conditions.

A better quality of life and health is one of the most popular reasons for people to change their lifestyles and move to another area.

It’s Cheaper

Everything tends to cost more in major cities. From housing to groceries, the price difference can save you a lot of money in your everyday spending. If you’re retired, then your retirement fund is going to go a lot further.

If you have a job that lets you work remotely, then you can really take advantage of the reduced cost of living as you could be earning city rates but without the associated living costs.

Less Crime

More people equals more crime. Crime rates tend to be much lower in rural areas. Violent crime and burglaries are lower too. So if that’s a priority for you, then moving out of the city is the way forward. Of course, there is some level of crime everywhere, but less prevalent in rural communities.

Further Away From Important Facilities

There are some downsides to living outside of well-populated areas. For example, you’re usually further away from hospitals, specialist dentists and other types of care. If you have any ongoing health issues, or are getting older, then this might play a role in where you decide to move. Long journeys to see doctors aren’t ideal and if you’re il too then the journey can be even more challenging. Similarly, if you’re looking to build your family, you may want to be closer to specialist maternity care or emergency facilities.

Longer Drives In General

You’ll need to get used to driving further to reach most things. Cultural venues, entertainment, restaurants and malls tend to be in busier areas, so if you want to visit them, you’ll need to drive to the nearest city. If

Reduced Public Transport Options

Rural communities tend to rely heavily on their vehicles. Hopping on a bus or a subway just isn’t possible.  There might be some local taxi or ride companies around but these will be limited. So if you don’t drive, then you’re going to need to learn before you move.

Fewer Schools

If you’re raising kids, or thinking of it in the near future, then where they go to school is very important. Choices are limited in towns with fewer people. If the schools are good, then that’s great but if they aren’t you may not have another option beyond homeschooling.

Every year, thousands of people decide to change their life and move to a rural area seeking a better quality of life. There are many amazing reasons that you might want to. Before you make the decision, really think about the pros and cons and of the move before committing. The vast majority of people believed the benefits are so good that it’s definitely worth it.
