The countdown to Christmas is officially on! With a new baby in our home, we’ve decided to spend more time at home decorating, baking and making crafts but most importantly, spend time making memories.
This week we decided to make a Simple Advent Calendar so each day we could celebrate it being one day closer to Christmas!
I love the season of Christmas. It’s a time when we can all spend time with our families enjoying what we love the most.
In our house, we do Christmas in a big way. We love to decorate and spend time together making things. I just love that our boys have my craftiness.
When we decided we wanted to make an advent calendar, we wanted it to be different. We didn’t want it to be something you could go out and buy.
So, we decided to use Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks as our “present” each day for the advent calendar. This treat is made with REAL fruit, gluten-free, fat-free, and contains no preservatives. Plus, it comes in adorable festive shapes including a snowman, ornament, Santa, snowflake, and Christmas tree.
If you agree, this Welch’s® Fruit Snacks advent calendar is a must!
Simple Advent Calendar
Materials needed to make a simple advent calendar:
- Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks
- 24 Mini Blank Stockings
- Glitter Glue
- Pom Poms
- Mini Gingerbread Boys and Girls
- Mini Christmas decorations
- Ribbon
- Large wooden board
- Small Clear Thumbtacks
- Hot glue gun (this will help hold things onto the stockings)
- Anything else you’d like to use to decorate these
How to make a simple advent calendar:
First, start by taking your board and evenly measuring out where each thumbtack and stocking will be placed. Since we were counting down to Christmas Eve, we knew we’d need 24 spots and decided to go with a horizontal display.
Once you’ve got your thumbtacks placed onto the board, it’s time to get making those stockings!
We split up the stockings and gave 12 to each of our boys and let them go to town. Each stocking is meant to end up different and personalized from your kids so allow them to have fun with it!
Once they are done decorating, allow these to dry fully before hanging onto the board.
Now, take your Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks and place one pouch inside each stocking. Then each day, take your treat out and enjoy it being one day closer to Christmas!
We love how this turned out and it’s certainly something we can keep and use year after year!
We hope you enjoy this craft as much as we do! And don’t forget to pick-up Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks as part of your holiday stocking stuffers this holiday season! They are available at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Christmas Tree Shops and other local retailers.
