This Spiked Wassail is the perfect holiday punch. It combines juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks, spices and rum to create a warm, boozy holiday drink you can make right in your slow cooker.
Every year my father-in-law makes Homemade Wassail for the holidays. He makes his in his slow cooker and let’s it simmer to keep warm at every holiday party.
We decided this year we would start our own tradition and start making different wassail recipes each year. That is when this boozy fruit wassail was born!
Slow Cooker Spiked Wassail
Ingredients:
- Cranberry Grape Juice
- Apple Juice
- Orange Juice
- Brown Sugar, optional
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Star Anise
- Ground Cloves
- Ground Allspice
- Bourbon or Dark Rum
- Optional Garnish: Apples, Oranges, Cranberries, Whole Cloves or Star Anise
How to Make Spiked Wassail in The Slow Cooker:
Combine all ingredients except the rum (or alcohol you are using) and garnishes in a large crock pot and heat on high for 1 hour.
Reduce heat to low, add alcohol, and simmer for 4-8 hours or until ready to drink.
Strain spices and garnish with sliced apples, orange slices (studded with cloves if preferred), whole cranberries, or star anise if desired.
How do I save leftover wassail?
You can store leftovers in the fridge for about 4-5 days. I usually stick mine in a large bowl or pitcher with a lid.
Things To Note:
- Make sure you simmer the wassail (after the first hour) and not let it boil or you will cook out the rum.
- You can slow cook everything for 6-8 hours on low or warm so it’s prepared earlier in the day.
- This recipe can also be made non-alcoholic, follow the same instructions without the alcohol.
- For a stronger drink, more alcohol can be added to taste.
