The Lorax is one of our favorite movies and books and with Dr. Seuss Day approaching, we thought it would be fun to make a Lorax Handprint.

This super simple craft is a fun way to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day while keeping your little one’s busy while it’s still cold outside.

With a 4-year-old, 8-year-old, and newborn in our house, we have to keep things as simple and inexpensive as possible.

This craft nails both of those things.

I speak for the trees quote

You truly just need a few simple supplies (which you most likely already have around your home) and a few minutes. Your kids will love making these and showing off how they “speak for the trees”.

What You Need to Make a Lorax Handprint:

How to make The Lorax Handprint:

First, start by folding the orange piece of cardstock in half.

Next, take a pencil and lightly trace the outside of your child’s hand. You want to make sure their fingers are spread gently apart.

Now, carefully cut out your child’s hand but be careful to not cut the fold, you need this to keep the card together.

Now, take the yellow cardstock and fold in half. You want to lightly draw a mustache shape and eyebrow shapes but only on one half of the fold (because once you cut this, you’ll have an even shape on both sides).

Cut out the shapes from the step above.

Next, glue the mustache, eyebrows, and googly eyes onto the handprint keeping the fingers facing down.

Lastly, take your black marker and add a few small details like a mouth and have your child write on the inside “I speak for the trees”.

You now have a totally adorable Lorax Handprint!

You can use this handprint to make cards for friends, family, birthday parties and even celebrate Earth Day!
