Clay Terracotta Pot - You likely have these lying around for gardening. Make sure the clay pot is not glazedto prevent harmful fumes
Cake Pan - I used a round cake pan that has handles on the side to provide additional stability
Tea Light Candles - You want 3-4 unscented candles
Cooling Rack - Make sure this is oven safe
Long Lighter
Small Piece of Aluminum Foilthat will fit over the top of the pot where the hole is
Instructions
Start by placing your cake pan on a leveled, heat-safe surface.
Flip your terracotta pot upside down so the large opening is at the bottom.
Cut a small square piece of aluminum foil and place it over the top of the hole of the clay pot.
Place 3-4 tea light candles inside in the middle of the pan and light them.
Place the wire cooling rack over the top the candles and cake pan (the sides of the pan will help hold this up)
Place your terracotta pot on top of the wire rack directly over the lit candles.
You will start to feel heat almost immediately. You can then replace the tea light candles as needed.
Once you feel the heat, you will notice it will begin dispersing out from the sides of the pot. I measured the heat using a digital thermometer, and within a few minutes it was nearing 300F.
