How to Make A Flower Pot Heater in under 5 minutes.
Prep Time 2 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

Materials

  • Clay Terracotta Pot - You likely have these lying around for gardening. Make sure the clay pot is not glazed to prevent harmful fumes
  • Cake Pan - I used a round cake pan that has handles on the side to provide additional stability
  • Tea Light Candles - You want 3-4 unscented candles
  • Cooling Rack - Make sure this is oven safe
  • Long Lighter
  • Small Piece of Aluminum Foil that will fit over the top of the pot where the hole is

Instructions

  • Start by placing your cake pan on a leveled, heat-safe surface.
  • Flip your terracotta pot upside down so the large opening is at the bottom.
  • Cut a small square piece of aluminum foil and place it over the top of the hole of the clay pot.
  • Place 3-4 tea light candles inside in the middle of the pan and light them.
  • Place the wire cooling rack over the top the candles and cake pan (the sides of the pan will help hold this up)
  • Place your terracotta pot on top of the wire rack directly over the lit candles.
  • You will start to feel heat almost immediately. You can then replace the tea light candles as needed.
  • Once you feel the heat, you will notice it will begin dispersing out from the sides of the pot. I measured the heat using a digital thermometer, and within a few minutes it was nearing 300F.
