These Maple Donuts with homemade maple icing are easy to make from scratch and can be made in 25 minutes or less. You’ll never have to worry about buying store bought donuts again.
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and prepare a donut plan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large bowl, add eggs, sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a mixing bowl. Mix with the electric mixer until everything is blended.
Slowly add in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, milk, salt, and maple flavoring. Mix well (about 1-2 minutes).
Place the batter into a large baggie or a pastry bag and fill each donut hole cavity with the maple batter up to 3/4 full of the individual donut hole.
Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them and once they begin to look golden brown, remove from the oven.
Allow the baked donut to cool slightly in the donut pan (about 2-3 minutes).
Once slightly cooled remove the donuts from the donut pan and transfer the donuts to the wire racks to cool completely.
While the donuts are cooling, mix up your icing by adding the confectioners’ sugar in a medium bowl. Slowly begin to add the maple syrup and butter. Stir by hand until the three ingredients have blended. (If necessary add more liquid or powdered sugar.)
Once the donuts have cooled and the frosting is made, put a cookie sheet under the wire rack to catch any drippings from the icing and/or sprinkles.
Using a large spoon to cover each cooled donut with the icing.
Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on iced donuts and allow to cool (you want the icing to set).
