How long does it take to hard boil eggs in an air fryer?

Depending on your air fryer, hard boil eggs take 15-16 minutes in the air fryer and make the perfect eggs! Cooking time may vary based on how many eggs you make at one time and the size of your eggs.

Why are my air fryer hard-boiled eggs so hard to peel?

If you find that your air fryer hard boiled eggs are hard to peel, it’s likely that your eggs have not cooled. Place your hard boiled eggs in an ice bath or allow them to cool completely before peeling. You can also peel them under cold running water.

Helpful Tips

  • An ice bath is one of the best ways to get a clean peel with a boiled egg since the air fryer doesn’t use water. Simply make one using a bowl of ice water.
  • I used a 6-quart air fryer. If you have a smaller one, just use as many eggs as you can that will fit in one layer. Do not change the temperature or time.
  • Store bought eggs peel much easier and cleaner than fresh farm eggs. I have yet to find something that truly works with fresh farm eggs.
  • The eggs will be very hot when coming out of the air fryer. I tend to let them sit in the air fryer basket for a couple of minutes before handling them. You can also use tongs if you want to get them in the ice bath sooner.
  • Cook time can vary because different air fryers heat differently. The easiest way to make eggs using the air fryer method is to make them for 16 minutes the first time followed by a cold water bath. Then adjust timing as needed for less time if there is overcooked yolks (or if you want softer yolks) and adjust for more time if you want more of a cooked egg yolk.
