Cinnamon Scented Pinecones

These homemade cinnamon scented pinecones will make your home smell like the holidays. All you need is a few simple supplies and you can make your home have a warm and comforting scent.

I love Fall and everything it brings with it. So much, that I typically bust out my Fall decor right after the 4th of July. Yes, I am one of those people.

With that being said, one of my go-to decorations for Fall and Winter is Cinnamon Scented Pinecones. They can make any area of your home smell INCREDIBLE.

I used to purchase scented pinecones from my local craft stores but do you know what I found out? The scent didn’t last long at all and that was a total bummer.

Considering a bundle of cinnamon pinecones can run you around $10 with a scent that does not last long, I decided that this was the year I would opt to make my own.

These homemade scented pinecones are so easy to make and the best part is, when the scent starts to fade, you can reapply the scent as often as you’d like so your home will always smell amazing.

Anytime I want to make these we turn it into a fun scavengar hunt. My family and I will head out to hunt down a variety of pinecones and make a game out of it.

However, if you live somewhere that doesn’t have pinecones accessible, you can purchase a pack of natural and unscented pinecones.

Cinnamon Scented Pinecones

Materials Needed:

Pine Cones in varying sizes
Gallon size sealable bag
Young Living Orange, Cinnamon, and Stress Away Oils (or you can substitute with other essential oils. These are a good alternative)
● Foil
● Large cookie sheet

Note: Make sure you use 100% Essential Oils and NOT wax burner oils or oils used in candle making.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 200℉.

Line a large cookie sheet with foil.

Spread the pinecones evenly across the foil and bake in the oven
for 40 minutes. Little bugs and critters can be hiding in the pine cones, so baking them is a good way to keep the critters from spreading in your house.

Remove and let cool completely.

Once the pine cones are cooled, place them in a large gallon size sealable bag.

Add your essential oils to the pine cones. I used 10 drops of orange, 8 drops of cinnamon, and 6 drops of stress away. You can try different combinations until you get the desired scent you like.

Seal the bag, and shake the pine cones around so that they absorb the oils.

Remove excess air from the bag, and seal tightly.

Place the bag in a cool dark place to set for one week. This will allow the oils to fully absorb into the pine cones, and provide you with the strongest lasting scent.

Once they have set for a week, remove and place in a bowl for display.
