You’re joking…You’re joking…I can’t believe my eyes! These Oogie Boogie Jello Shots are so cool! They are made with a bright green tequila lime flavor and stuffed with gummy bugs for a one-of-a-kind boozy Halloween treat.
Oogie Boogie Jello Shots
If you know me at all, you know how much I love Nightmare Before Christmas.
I decided making Nightmare Before Christmas Jello Shots was the way to go this year and I’ve already made Jack Skellington Jello Shots and Sally Jello Shots.
So, of course I had to make Oogie Boogie Jello Shots!
If you like tequila, you are going to love these. They are easy to make and will be the talk of your next Halloween party.
What You Need to Make Oogie Boogie Jello Shots
- 1 Box of Lime Jello Mix (3 oz. box)
- 1 Cup Boiling Water
- 1 Cup Tequila – Feel free to use your favorite tequila brand
- Mini Gummy Worms (The Albanese brand is my favorite)
- Gummy Bug Candy (my favorite is the 7-Eleven brand)
- Spider Sprinkles
- 2 ounce Plastic Cups with Lids
- Turkey Baster (it makes filling the cups easier)
How to Make Oogie Boogie Jello Shots
Start by mixing your Jell-o. You are going to mix 1 cup of boiling water with the lime Jell-o mixture until the mixture is dissolved (it will look clear).
Next, add 1 cup of Tequila into the bowl and stir well. Note: If you’d rather, you can do 1/2 cup of Tequila and 1/2 of water it will just make the Jello shots less strong.
Take 1 gummy bug and 1 gummy worm and stick it into the bottom of each plastic cup. This is optional but I liked the way it looked.
Now, using your turkey baster, fill the plastic cups with the Jello mixture filling each cup to the top.
Place the Jello shots onto a cookie sheet or cutting board and then stick into the fridge.
Allow the jello shots to set for at least 1 hour.
Once the jello has set, you top each Oogie Boogie Jello shot with spider sprinkles, another gummy worm and more gummy bug candies.
Serve and Enjoy!
Helpful Tips:
- If you like a strong tequila flavor use 1 cup of tequila and omit the water. If you want less of a tequila taste, use 1/2 cup of tequila and 1/2 cup of cold water.
- You can make these ahead of time about 1-2 days in advance. Keep them covered and in the fridge away from additional moisture as the sprinkles can melt.
- You can place the lids on top so they stack and transport easy.
- This recipe makes 12 – 2 oz. jello shots. You can double or triple the recipe as needed.
