What is National Donut Day?
National Donut Day is a holiday celebrated annually on the first Friday of June. It was originally established in 1938 by the Salvation Army in Chicago to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
These women, known as “Doughnut Lassies,” provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending, and home-cooked meals, including doughnuts, to soldiers on the front lines.
The day is often marked by doughnut shops and bakeries offering free or discounted doughnuts. It’s a light-hearted celebration that many people look forward to for the delicious treats.
Please note that while National Donut Day is observed predominantly in the United States, other countries may have their own variations or equivalents of the celebration.
How to Get A Free Donut at Dunkin’
Dunkin’ recently posted on social media reminding everyone of their Free Donut Friday on June 2, 2023 saying:

America runs on Dunkin’® and this National Donut Day, America runs on free donuts. On Friday, June 2, Dunkin’ die-hards and donut fans can enjoy a free classic donut of their choice with any beverage purchase.
So, unlike Krispy Kreme that does not require a purchase for a free round dessert, Dunkin’ does.
However, if you are a Dunkin’ rewards member, you may have a cheap or free coffee waiting for you and then you can also get your free donut.
