Copycat Sonic Ocean Water Recipe

You can’t go wrong with a delicious blue drink. Like my husband always says, blue just tastes better.

While you can certainly head to your favorite fast food restaurant, Sonic, to get a Sonic ocean water drink, you can save yourself time and money by making it at home.

This sonic copycat recipe combines lemon lime soda, drops of blue food coloring, the taste of coconut and some gummy candy to create.

You can serve this up individually making it a great option for kid-friendly drinks or serve it up in a large punch bowl at any summer party. It’s quickly become one of my favorite summer drinks.

What You Need to Make Copycat Sonic Ocean Water

How many servings does this recipe make?

This exact recipe makes 1 serving. You can double and triple the recipe as many times as you need to make a large serving size for your entire family.

How can I make this an alcoholic version for adults?

You can make the recipe as-is and add your favorite brand of Vodka, Tequila or White Rum to make it a boozy sonic ocean water version.

What can I use instead of Sprite?

While using a lemon lime soda such as Sprite will give it the best taste, you can skip the Sprite and food coloring and use Blue Gatorade or Blue Powerade instead.

What can I in place of the coconut extract?

The coconut extract is optional but does give it that Caribbean taste. You can use pineapple extract instead if you prefer.

How do I story any leftover drink?

While you can store leftovers in the fridge, they usually don’t taste very well due to the Sprite. Once the carbonation from the Sprite has gone flat, the drink doesn’t taste as good. Therefore, I recommend enjoying this famous sonic ocean water drink right as you make it.
