Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance can I make this dip?
You can make this dip 2-3 days in advance and place it into the refrigerator in an airtight container (you can also cover with plastic wrap). I would add the crushed peppermints and mini chocolate chips on top right before serving to avoid them melting with the moisture of the fridge. Remove the dip from the fridge about 10 minutes prior to serving.
Can I freeze this dip?
No, I wouldn’t freeze the dip as it may change the overall texture of the dip.
Can I use regular food coloring?
While you can use regular food coloring, I suggest using the gel food coloring. Gel food coloring keeps the dip from becoming too watery since it’s oil-based. Plus, the gel food coloring gives a more vibrant pink color.
What items can I dip into this festive treat?
Vanilla wafers, animal crackers, fresh fruit, gingerbread cookies, shortbread cookies and any of your favorite Christmas cookies will be perfect in this.
Does this dip contain alcohol?
Yes! Since the vodka in this recipe is not being cooked out, it does contain alcohol. Therefore, this dip should be enjoyed by adults 21+ years of age. You can make a kid-friendly version by removing the alcohol and by using peppermint extract instead.
