Hobby Lobby is known for their amazing and unique finds. Everything from craft supplies to home decor (I love their wall decor).
One of my favorite things about Hobby Lobby is their 40% off coupon you can use on any regular priced item each week.
It was one of the reasons I would shop there in the first place.
But unfortunately, word is, Hobby Lobby Getting Rid of Their 40% off Coupon!
I first say a very blurry image going around on Facebook (shown below) so I didn’t know if it was real or not.
I then Googled “Is Hobby Lobby Getting Rid of Their 40% off Coupon?” and the only thing that popped up was a reddit thread with Hobby Lobby employees talking about it.
There is currently nothing about it on the actual Hobby Lobby website but then then I decided to check the verified Hobby Lobby Facebook Page.
Sure enough, they have replied to many of the comments saying this:
“As of February 28th, 2021, Hobby Lobby will no longer be offering the 40% off coupon in stores or online. By making this decision, we are intensifying our efforts to discount thousands of items every day. This will offer a better value instead of providing a discount on only one item with the coupon. It is always our intent to provide you with beyond compare service, great prices and the best selection. We appreciate your understanding during this period of transition and thank you for your continued business.”
Above is an actual screenshot from the comment section on their Facebook page and it actually posted by Hobby Lobby.
So, Yes. Hobby Lobby Is Getting Rid of Their 40% off Coupon. The coupon program will end on February 28, 2021.
I have to admit, I am super sad and upset about this. Unless they intend to lower prices overall, I don’t think I’ll be shopping there much anymore (if at all).
So, what do you think? Will you continue shopping Hobby Lobby after this?
We have finally been allowed to cross the border and come back to our 2nd home in Yuma. I am very unhappy that the Hobby Lobby coupon is gone. The Joannes has closed here and the best coupon I see for Michaels is only 20%. Sounds like more corporate greed and I will be shopping less at these stores and buying less.
The allegation that they plan to discount items in lieu of a coupon is a giant lie. Everything I went in to buy was actually marked HIGHER in price than usual and the weekly discounts they were giving were much much smaller than before. So the claim may be that they’re “lowering prices,” but the catch is that the weekly sales on the items will be low and you won’t be saving much money in the long run.
Thanks for your comment! I was afraid this would happen. So sad because I enjoyed shopping Hobby Lobby but I refuse to pay for overpriced items I can find elsewhere for cheaper. I love At Home if you have one nearby, check them out and they often offer discounts/deals and coupons too!
Went to purchase cake boards and cake boxes and since that department was not running a sale this week the 40% off coupon would have come in handy, even if it would only be good for one item. Needless to say I walked out without that blue and orange bag in my hand. Regardless of pricing, it’s a “feel good” thing if we can use a coupon! JC Penney tried the no coupons/lower everything route and it was not successful.
Some but only for things that are really on sale. I’m pretty sure we aren’t going to see much of a difference on their prices. I will shop Jo Ann’s and Michael’s if they have coupons.
Right! JoAnn’s and Michael’s do have coupons. Sign up for their emails (JoAnn sends me email coupons all the time) also Michael’s has coupons in their app every week.
I, for one, will not even be going as much. I would go to get. Higher price item, using the 40% off, then buy lots of other things while I was there. I think their sales will drastically drop.
I agree. Aside from being a saver, we are in the middle of a pandemic and people shopping right now probably want to save as much as possible. This is a crazy weird time to take a coupon away.
They have already started lowering prices and doing more sales…. the baking section used to only ever go 30% off but not they changed it to 50-% off!!
Interesting! I haven’t noticed that but if they are doing that, that is great news!
I prefer to shop my local Hobby Lobby. But if this is true, I will have to go the Michaels and Joanns to use their coupons to stay within my senior income budget. These are “hobby” items — not necessities for most shoppers . . . I hope they re-think this idea. The prices are fine for the most part –no coupon=no purchase for me.
I feel the same way! Also, it is confirmed. I did receive an email back directly from the company confirming this.
They must of taken the sign off because I went to Facebook and not finding anything. It would be stupid for them to do that. I stop shopping Michael because they don’t give 40 percent coupon.
It is in the comments. I also personally emailed them and received back the same message as my screenshot so it is confirmed.
Also, Michael’s does do the coupons. Just download their app and you get coupons in there including a 20% off all items (including sale items) on Saturdays.
