I am about to admit something that might be quite shocking… I do not like Twinkies. There, I said it.

Yup, I am not a fan of Twinkies. For me, it’s more of a texture thing than taste. I am not a fan of the squishy, slimy consistency. If I am going to eat cake, it has to be, well, cake consistency ha!

So, that is why I love these homemade twinkies so much!

The consistency is perfect but the overall taste and texture is what really had me going back for seconds, thirds and fourths.

How To Make Homemade Pumpkin Spice Twinkies

What You’ll Need:

Directions:

Start by preheat your oven to 350F.

Grease your twinkie pan and set aside.

Prepare the spice cake mix. All you do is add the pumpkin puree to the cake mix. You don’t need any additional ingredients.

Portion out batter into the twinkie pan, filling each about 2/3 of the way full.

Bake for 15-18 minutes, until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool completely.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling by beating together all marshmallow filling ingredients. If it’s too stiff, add a teaspoon or two of hot water.

Scoop the filling into a piping bag and snip a tiny amount off the end.

Using a chopstick, make three holes in the bottom of each twinkie. Try to move the end of the chopstick around a bit to make a bigger cavity for the filling.

Pipe the marshmallow filling into each of the three holes of each twinkie.

Serve and enjoy!

  1. Ginger Hoffman says:

On the pumpkin spice twinkies you just mix the cake with the pumpkin. You don’t make the cake with the directions on the box.

    1. That is correct. Per my instructions, you just add the pumpkin puree into the cake mix. No additional ingredients are needed 🙂

  2. Where does the shirtening go, and what are the “filling ingredients”?

    1. It goes in the filling. I just updated the steps to be a little more clear on that 🙂 The filling ingredients are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
