You can even make these and plop them into a hot cup of milk and watch them melt away while it turns your cup of hot cocoa the perfect shade of Grinch Green!

Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs

If you follow my blog then you know that we already created some super cute Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs – they have been so popular, they actually went viral!

So, then we made the Giant Grinch Hot Cocoa Bomb but we just weren’t done yet because I mean, can you really have enough Grinch? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

So, this time we made a little bit of a different version. Same concept just a darker green with some fun Christmas sprinkles. Still totally easy to make and entirely delicious!

Before You Get Started…

Since I started making hot cocoa bombs, I learned a new trick… Cut your silicone mold so that each sphere is a single mold by itself. Trust me, this will save time and be so much easier!

So, if you have a silicone sphere mold, cut it into individual molds and then move onto the additional steps. You totally don’t have to but it does make filling each mold with chocolate so much easier!

How to Make Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs

Using a microwave safe bowl, melt the dark green candy melts in 30 second intervals. Make sure to stir the candy melts after each 30 seconds until completely melted and smooth (about 1.5 minutes)

Now, using a spoon, fill a mold with about 2 tablespoons of the melted candy melts.

Carefully swirl the melted candy melt to completely coat the inside of the mold and then lightly shake the extra candy melt back into the bowl.

Place the coated molds into the fridge for 5-10 minutes to allow them to harden.

Once hardened, remove from the fridge and gently peel the silicone mold back away from the hardened candy melt. Be careful not to break the chocolate. If you do, just remelt it and repeat the steps above.

Now, carefully place the chocolate sphere onto a cutting board and repeat the process above with the additional molds.

You should now have 8 half sphere molds.

Take one side of the chocolate sphere and scoop about 1 tablespoon of the hot cocoa mix into the bottom of the sphere mold.

Add in sprinkles and mini marshmallows.

Now, take some of the melted chocolate and stick it into your pastry bag or baggie and pipe a line of the melted candy melt around the edge of the bottom shell.

If you’d rather, you can also use the hot plate method to adhere the two halves of the chocolate bomb together like we did in our original post.

Carefully place the top shell onto the bottom and gently hold the top
to the bottom for about 30 seconds to a minute to allow the piped
candy melt to harden to the top shell.

You can use your finger to smooth the edge around the chocolate bomb and ensure it is sealed entirely.

Place the mold back onto the cutting board and drizzle the candy melt over the top of the bomb.

Place a heart into the center and allow to harden for 10 minutes!

Enjoy!

How to Use Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs

Once your hot chocolate bomb is ready to be used, drop into 8-10 oz of hot milk or stick into the bottom of a cup and pour 8-10 oz of hot milk over the chocolate bomb.

The grinch hot chocolate bomb will melt right before your eyes. Stir and then drink right away!

A Few Things To Note:

  • Avoid getting the candy melts wet (as in with water) or they will seize and will be ruined.
  • The chocolate bombs need to be stored somewhere cool or they will melt.
  • Avoid holding or touching the hot cocoa bombs for too long or they will melt in your hands.
  • To make a hot plate, place a microwave safe plate inside the microwave for 30 seconds and check on it. If it’s hot enough, remove with a heat resistant mitten. If not, heat for another 30 seconds until hot.
  • You do not need to spray the silicone mold with cooking spray, the hot cocoa bombs pop right out without any extra steps.
  • You can place them inside sealed bags for gift giving.
