What You Need to Make Grinch Popcorn
- Organic Microwavable Popcorn
- White Chocolate Almond Bark – melted (All 12 squares melted)
- Green Gel Food Coloring
- Red Heart Sprinkles
- Extra large bowl – to mix popcorn
How far in advance can I make this?
This can be made 1-3 days in advance. Just be sure to store in an airtight container to keep the popcorn from going stale. I do prefer this served fresh right after making.
How to Make Grinch Popcorn
Follow the directions on the Popcorn box, and microwave the Popcorn until you’ve popped both bags. Be careful not to burn.
As the bags finish popping, place the popped corn in the extra large bowl.
Place the squares of White Chocolate Almond Bark in a microwave safe bowl, and melt the Chocolate – about 1 minute total – stopping every 15 seconds to stir. If the chocolate is not completely melted after 1 minute, add another 10 seconds, and continue until the chocolate is melted.
Stir the melted White Chocolate, then add the Green Food Coloring to the melted chocolate. Stir well to blend, and if the color is not bright enough, add another drop, and stir, and continue to add 1 drop and stir until you get the desired color of green.
Pour the Melted Green/White Chocolate over the popcorn, and stir with a large spoon to coat the popcorn in the melted chocolate. Continue to stir until all the popcorn is covered in the green melted chocolate.
When finished, place the Chocolate in a large serving dish, or several dishes if preferred, and generously sprinkle on the Red Grinch Hearts.
Serve and Enjoy!
Things to Note:
- If you have not used the White Chocolate Almond Bark, you’ll find it most likely on the baking isle, at your local grocery store or market. It’s melting chocolate that is great to work with, as it melts quickly, and is wonderful for dipping, or coating whatever you’re making that calls for a melting chocolate.
- Almond bark has nothing to do with Almonds and does not contain almonds.
- After you’ve coated the popcorn in the White/Green melted Chocolate, if you’re not serving it until later, you can pour the popcorn out onto parchment paper to allow the chocolate to set, or dry on the popcorn.
- If you’re pouring it out onto parchment paper, go ahead and sprinkle on some of the Red Hearts, as it will stick to the Chocolate before it dries. When you transfer to serving bowl(s) you can sprinkle on a few more Red Grinch Hearts.
- If you’re storing the popcorn, place it in an airtight container, in a cool dry place. Popcorn will keep for 3 days when stored properly.
