If you ask me, gingerbread is the ultimate Christmas spice mix. It is one of my favorite ways to bring a warm aroma to any holiday dish.

Use it in a variety of recipes such as gingerbread pancakes, chocolate gingerbread cake, add a dash to your ground coffee before brewing, and use it to make the dough for gingerbread men and gingerbread houses. The possibilities are endless.

How to make homemade gingerbread spice mix that is perfect for gingerbread recipes or a handmade holiday gift.
Prep Time 3 minutes
Total Time 3 minutes
Servings 7 Tablespoons

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Cinnamon
  • 3 Tablespoons Ground Ginger
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons Allspice
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons Ground Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl and stir until combined.
  • Store in a sealed jar or container for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • If desired, you can add ¼ teaspoon cardamom for another boost of flavor, although it’s not
    necessary.
  • I wouldn’t freeze or refrigerate this spice mix as the moisture will ruin it.
  • The great thing about making your own spice mixes is that you can adjust them to suit
your preferences. If you would like one spice to be a little more prominent, simply add some extra until it’s just right for you.
