If you’re looking to save some serious cash on everyday essentials, there’s one place that might not be the first on your list but should definitely be considered: the Dollar Tree.
While Walmart is known for its low prices, there are still some items that can cost you way more there than at your local dollar store.
I’ve actually found 5 Things at Dollar Tree That Cost Way More at Walmart and I am sharing them with you so you don’t have to pay a penny more for the same item!
When it comes to shopping for everyday essentials, every penny counts especially when you are looking to stay within your budget.
While a few cents to a few dollars may not seem like much initially, over time those small savings can add up to be a good chunk of change. And honestly, why pay more for the same item if you don’t have to, right?
Now, keep in mind that every Dollar Tree store is different in terms of selection. Also, every Walmart has different pricing structures so, your savings may be more or less depending on your location. Overall, these items will cost you less at Dollar Tree than purchasing them at your local Walmart.
Oh and in case you didn’t know, Dollar Tree is rolling back prices to $1 on hundreds of items meaning these items could have even bigger savings!

Hunt’s Tomato Ketchup
Dollar Tree has full-size (20 oz) bottles of Hunt’s Tomato Ketchup. At Dollar Tree you’ll pay $1.25 when the same bottle is selling for $1.62-$3.24 for the same bottle.
Plackers Dental Flossers
We all know flossing is important part of our dental hygiene routine and well, you don’t have to pay a fortune for good floss.
I personally love these Plackers Dental Flossers especially for my kids because it helps them floss easier.
These packs sell at Dollar Tree for $1.25 while the same packs sell for around $3.50-$7 at Walmart.
Goody Ouchless Hair Ties
If you or someone in your household has long hair, you know these hair ties are a must-have. You also know, they seem to disappear all the time.
Well, Dollar Tree has the 15 count packs of Goody Ouchless Hair Ties for just $1.25.
The same pack at Walmart will run you roughly $5.97 at full price (around $3 when on sale). That is a huge amount of savings for the same item!
Name Brand Bread
This is one of my best kept secrets. Many locations in my area sell name-brand bread. I am talking all sorts of bread you’d find at Walmart for $3.00+ a loaf, can be found at Dollar Tree for $1.25. That includes English Muffins, Bagels and even specialty bread.
Pro tip: You can stock up and freeze loaves of bread and thaw as needed.
Windex Multi-Surface Disinfectant Cleaner
One of my favorite things to buy at Dollar Tree is cleaners, especially name-brand cleaning supplies.
Take this Windex Multi-Surface Disinfectant Cleaner for example. This 26 oz refill bottle is $1.25. A similar size at Walmart is $4.17 a bottle!
The next time you find yourself browsing the isles of Dollar Tree, keep these items in mind and know that they are even cheaper than buying at Walmart.
